Alright so now the genre of our film and our studio names have been decided upon we are now taking into consideration a basic idea of what we could do in the evaluation questions:
Here are the evaluation questions we will be having to consider:
1) In way way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?
3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
4) Who would be the audience for your media product?
5) How did you attract/address your audience?
6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
These questions have been discussed among our production teams and we came up we a way to answer the questions:
1) Our film idea challenges the normal "one person a good guy - one person a bad guy" convention of a thriller. We are subverting this by making the appearing good guy (the Protagonist) the hidden killer through the aspect of schizophrenia. The Antagonist is merely a shadow created by the Protagonist's imagination.
We also use the conventions of the colour black in our film; the ideas that black is evil, dangerous, unknown and something to be afraid of all links in with what our Antagonist should give off - we want people to think he kills the Protagonist in the end.
2) At the end of the film is challenges social groups in the aspect of Seth (Antagonist) being dressed all in black, hoodie etc, basically the stereotypical look of a killer and Connor (Protagonist) being the smart, more formal scientist guy who appears weak and the victim, their roles are switched around at the end - Connor becomes the killer and Seth simply isn't even there.
3) At this point this question isn't something to worry about - we need to complete the film opening before we begin to decide what media institution is likely to distribute our film.
4) So far we have decided that our audience to be thriller fans of 15+ due to the content of our film idea.
5) The content of our film will attract the desired audience by the jump scares, growing suspense and tension that builds throughout the film. We also think that perhaps a male audience would prefer our film to females.
6) Currently we have learnt/learning about the basic camera equipment & the editing software that we will be using to film and edit our film in - (Final Cut & Soundtrack Pro). Later we shall be learning about more technology that will be needed to produce our final film.
7) Observing our preliminary task, myself and my group have decided that, after learning about a lot more technical shot types and filming equipment, along with learning how to use the advanced filming techniques - we should be able to show a vast amount of improvement in our skills in our film opening.
